«XXIII Fantaisies» is the album by Eustache Du Caurroy with Hespèrion XX and Jordi Savall, released in 1988 by Fontalis on CD.
The CD brings together the XXIII Fantaisies by Eustache Du Caurroy, twenty-three Renaissance instrumental pieces written for ensembles of three, four, five and six parts. Hespèrion XX, conducted by Jordi Savall, approaches this French repertoire with historically informed criteria, recreating the instrumental colour of early seventeenth-century music.
CD edition of a French-origin disc; the cover reproduces the year 1610 and the mention «avec privilège de Sa Majesté», characteristic of the original publication.
Aimed at early music enthusiasts and Renaissance repertoire lovers who value historically informed performances.
