«L’Orfeo» is the opera by Claudio Monteverdi performed by La Venexiana and conducted by Claudio Cavina, released in 2006 by Diverdi on CD.
The work recreates the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice: after the death of his wife, Orpheus descends into the underworld and his singing moves its guardians. Composed in 1607 with a libretto by Alessandro Striggio, this baroque opera combines vocal expressiveness with the colour of the instrumentation to tell the story.
It belongs to the collection «Los clásicos de la Ópera», number 25. The recording consists of two discs: 18 tracks on the first and 26 on the second.
