«Dear Mr. Basie» is the live jazz album by the Frank Wess-Harry Edison Orchestra, released on CD in 1990.
Recorded live at the Fujitsu-Concord Jazz Festival in Japan in 1989, this album brings together a big band led by saxophonist Frank Wess and trumpeter Harry Sweets Edison. Its repertoire of jazz classics, including tracks like «Jumpin' at the Woodside» and «One O'Clock Jump», is a tribute to Count Basie and the swing of the great orchestras.
The recording includes eleven tracks and features a lineup of eighteen musicians, including Joe Newman, Al Grey and Ronnell Bright. Carl E. Jefferson acts as master of ceremonies.
For fans of big band jazz and live versions of Count Basie's classic repertoire.
