«Daphnis et Chloé / Boléro» is the album by Maurice Ravel with the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus & Orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle, on CD.
The CD brings together two orchestral works by Maurice Ravel: Daphnis et Chloé, a choreographic symphony for orchestra and wordless chorus based on the pastoral idyll of Daphnis and Chloe, and Boléro, a hypnotic piece built on an obsessive rhythm that grows to an apotheotic finale. Simon Rattle's version highlights the orchestral colour and detail of both scores.
1992 recording, digitally remastered; includes Daphnis et Chloé (57:26) and Boléro (16:15). The City of Birmingham Chorus is conducted by Simon Halsey.
For classical music enthusiasts interested in Ravel's great orchestral works.
