«Canon» is a classical music album with works by Pachelbel, Albinoni, Bach, Boccherini, Haydn, Handel and Gluck, released on CD by Polygram Records in 1990.
It brings together pieces from the Baroque and Classical repertoire in versions for chamber orchestra with organ: Pachelbel's Canon, Albinoni's Adagio and Bach's Air, alongside works by Boccherini, Haydn, Handel and Gluck. The Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, conducted by Karl Münchinger, accompanies Martin Haselböck on the organ.
Digital recording (DDD) on a single disc; catalogue number 411 973-2. The cover reproduces a Baroque painting with a peacock on a gilded pedestal in a garden.
Suitable for those who enjoy compilations of Baroque and Classical music performed by chamber ensembles.
