As Fools We Are

Synopsis of As Fools We Are

As Fools We Are is the second album by the London-based folk/songwriter collective Fireworks Night. It is a wonderful collection of poignant and sad songs, interpreted on a wealth of traditional and modern instruments. The music of Fireworks Night is delicate and graceful, forming a versatile, imaginative landscape for the thoughtful and melancholic lyrics. These deal with love and violence, and how these impulses can co-exist both in the individual and in the world at large. The ethereal beauty of sparse, acoustic folk songs is balanced by layered guitars, klezmer fanfares, and raw, noisy textures, making for an emotionally resonant listening experience.
