Professor Higgins, a phonetics expert, is fascinated when he hears Elisa, a young flower seller. He decides to carry out a professional experiment transforming the seller into a high society lady. However, Higgins' treatment of Elisa focuses solely on her diction and manners, neglecting other aspects. This film, directed by Anthony Asquith and Leslie Howard, is a cinematic gem with excellent technical and artistic work, highlighting its photography and costumes. The performances are brilliant and full of naturalness. Later, the musical version 'My Fair Lady' was made.
