Ludwig von Mises was the leading spokesman of the Austrian School of Economics for most of the twentieth century.
His magnum opus, Human Action, is widely regarded as a foundational treatise on economic theory.
Before moving to the United States, he founded the Austrian Institute for Business Cycle Research in 1926.
Throughout his prolific career, he authored a total of 167 works covering economics, socialism, and capitalism.
Following a distinguished career in Europe, he served as a visiting professor at New York University for over two decades.
