Louis is the French form of the Old Frankish given name Chlodwig and one of two English forms, the other being Lewis.

Louis L'Amour was a prolific American author who wrote over 500 works throughout his career.

Although world-renowned for his Western novels, he preferred to classify his tales as frontier stories.

His literary versatility allowed him to explore genres as diverse as science fiction, historical fiction, and poetry.

Many of his gripping stories were successfully adapted for the big screen.

At the time of his death, all of his published works remained in print.
