José Medina was a Brazilian filmmaker. He was a self-taught artist-communicator and a pioneer of Brazilian silent cinema. In addition to his performance in cinema, he also worked with photography, radio, newspapers, drawing, painting, advertising and theater.

José Medina was born in the Brazilian city of Sorocaba in 1893.

His multifaceted career spanned filmmaking, playwriting, photography, and writing.

Throughout his life, Medina published a total of 16 works.

His thought explores fundamental themes such as justice, philosophy, and social conditions.

He is internationally recognized for his significant academic contribution to The Routledge Handbook of Epistemic Injustice.
