Joan Martí i Castell was born in Tarragona in 1945 and has dedicated his life to the deep study of language.

As a philologist and university professor, he has been a key figure in academic research on the Catalan language.

His main work, De la preceptiva de la llengua catalana, is an essential reference for understanding the structure of the language.

His work combines literary criticism with a rigorous analysis of the linguistic reality of Spain.
