«Wij willen gangster worden» is the true crime book by George Boellaard, published in 2021 by Just Publishers in paperback (287 pages, in Dutch).
The book reconstructs the youthful years (1966-1977) of Jan Boellaard, Frans Meijer and Cor van Hout in the Amsterdam of the sixties and seventies, and how they went from small-time delinquents to hardened criminals, a path that anticipates their role in the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken in 1983.
First volume of the series «De Heineken-ontvoering», focused on the real events surrounding the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken.
For true crime fans and readers of real-life crime reporting, especially those interested in Dutch criminal history.
