Virgin Portraits

Synopsis of Virgin Portraits

«Virgin Portraits» is an art book by Confidential Concepts about the Virgin Mary, published by Grange Books in paperback (256 pages, in English).

The book traces the evolution of Mary's image in painting: from Renaissance Madonnas, in which Italian artists often portrayed their patrons' wives, to representations that over time make her more human and closer to the viewer's feelings. It includes a wide selection of commented portraits.

Part of the Mega Squares series. Published in 2005.

Will appeal to readers of art history, religious iconography, and lovers of classical painting.
