«Versalles» is Kathryn Davis's historical novel based on Marie Antoinette, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (194 pages, in Spanish).
The narrative takes place in the Versailles of Marie Antoinette and contrasts the brilliance of the court, with its banquets and embroidered tablecloths, with what lies hidden behind appearances: the weariness of bodies, the desires and the sadness of the queen. A look at power and ceremony from the margins of splendour.
The original, 'Versailles', was published in 2002; this Spanish edition appeared in 2006 with a translation by Kiko Amat.
For readers of historical fiction and literary fiction interested in the eighteenth-century French court and the figure of Marie Antoinette.
