«Une autre mer» is the novel by Claudio Magris, published by Editions Gallimard in paperback (128 pages, in French).
Enrico Mreule, a disciple of the radical philosopher Carlo Michelstaedter, rejects conventional commitments after the premature death of his master. Between Patagonia and Istria, during the Great War and the rise of fascism, his wandering life is that of a deserting witness who seeks to live in the present while real life escapes him.
The work is the French translation of the original Italian novel «Un altro mare», published in 1991. This French edition of «Une autre mer», from the Folio collection, was published in 2011.
A work for readers interested in Italian literature, historical fiction and philosophical reflection.
Claudio Magris is an Italian scholar, translator and writer. He was a senator for Friuli-Venezia Giulia from 1994 to 1996.
