«Un grain sur le toit» is the collection of Berber riddles and wisdom from Kabylia by Youcef Allioui, published by Editions L'Harmattan in paperback (430 pages, in French).
A compilation of traditional riddles from Algerian Kabylia presented in three blocks: the oral text in Kabyle, its French translation, and a sociolinguistic, historical, ethnographic and ecological commentary with its variants. The author also classifies these riddles and analyses the rules linking sound and meaning in the Berber language, revealing an oral literature of great symbolic and cultural richness.

Suitable for readers interested in Amazigh culture, the oral literature of North Africa and ethnolinguistics, as well as for teachers and students of the Berber language.
