«Tren de ida y vuelta» is the young adult novel by Mariano Vara Porras, published by Algar Editorial in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
A fictionalised biography of the poet Miguel Hernández (Orihuela, 1910-Alicante, 1942), a humble boy destined to be a goatherd. His love of culture and friendship with other writers turn him into a recognised poet, until war cuts his path short. It tells with emotion and humanity the story that Hernández himself could not write.
Volume 44 of the Algar Joven collection, first edition (19 May 2010). Mariano Vara Porras (Puebla de Almenara, Cuenca, 1955) holds degrees in dramatic art and journalism.
Recommended for young readers aged 14 and up, especially those interested in poetry, Spanish history and literary biographies.
