«Trece rosas rojas» is the historical essay by Carlos Fonseca, published by Ediciones Martínez Roca in paperback (328 pages, in Spanish).
Thirteen women, seven of them minors, were shot in Madrid on 5 August 1939 for being «rojas». Carlos Fonseca reconstructs their lives from letters and family testimonies, and documents their political involvement up to their arrest, trial and execution in the postwar period.
Published in 2004 in the Historia Viva collection, includes bibliographical references. The work was adapted into a film by Emilio Martínez Lázaro in 2007.
