«To Be a European Muslim» is Tariq Ramadan's essay on Islam in Europe, published by Islamic Foundation in paperback (287 pages, in English).
Tariq Ramadan analyses the Muslim presence in Europe and argues that it is possible to live as a practising Muslim in pluralistic, multi-confessional European nation-states. Drawing on Islamic sources, he addresses the social, political, cultural and legal integration of European Muslims, as well as their contribution to society without renouncing their faith.
The book's subtitle is «A Study of Islamic Sources in the European Context»; it includes bibliographic references, an index and Quranic citations in Arabic.
Intended for European Muslims, students of Islamic studies and readers interested in Islam in Western societies.
