«The Life of Teresa of Jesus» is the autobiography of Saint Teresa of Ávila, translated and edited by E. Allison Peers, published by Image in paperback.
Written in 1565 at the request of her confessor, it recounts Teresa's early years, the crises and conflicts she went through, and her decision to devote herself to prayer. The narrative combines the chronicle of a life given to God with lyrical passages of mystical experiences, and describes with warmth and humour the spiritual strength of a woman.
Complete and unabridged text, in English.
For readers of Christian spirituality and mysticism, and for those who value the classics of religious autobiography.
