«The Language Report 5: English on the move, 2000-2007» is Susie Dent's linguistic essay (Oxford University Press, hardback, 176 pages, in English).
Susie Dent reviews the evolution of English in the new millennium: the book brings together five years of changes in the language, from punctuation to political jargon, compares the state of the language with that of a century ago, and extends the analysis to the language of food and drink, advertising, and celebrity culture.
It is the fifth volume in the The Language Report series, published by Oxford University Press in December 2007.
Aimed at English teachers, school libraries, and enthusiasts of words and linguistic curiosities.
Susan Dent is an English lexicographer, etymologist, and media personality. She has appeared in "Dictionary Corner" on the Channel 4 game show Countdown since 1992. She also appears on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, a post-watershed comedy version of the show.
