«The Closed Circle» is the contemporary fiction novel by Jonathan Coe, published by Penguin in paperback (448 pages, in English).
The characters of The Rotters' Club reappear as adults. On New Year's Eve 1999, Benjamin Trotter sees his younger brother Paul, a New Labour MP, at the Millennium party. Both are unaware that their lives are about to fall apart, in an era when politics, media and appearances have become indistinguishable.
Second instalment of the Rotters' Club series, sequel to The Rotters' Club. Originally published in 2004 and shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award in 2006.
For readers of contemporary and literary fiction, particularly those who have read The Rotters' Club.

Jonathan Coe is an English novelist and writer. His work has an underlying preoccupation with political issues, although this serious engagement is often expressed comically in the form of satire. For example, What a Carve Up! (1994) reworks the plot of an old 1960s spoof horror film of the same name. It is set within the "carve up" of the UK's resources that was carried out by Margaret Thatcher's Conservative governments of the 1980s.
