«Tarzán de los monos» is the adventure novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (300 pages, in Spanish).
The story follows an English boy born on the west coast of Africa in the late 19th century whose parents are shipwrecked and die, leaving him alone in the jungle. Raised by a herd of great apes, he learns to survive in the wild and grows up to become Tarzán, lord of the jungle, until an encounter with other human beings calls into question his identity and aristocratic origins.
First instalment of the Tarzán series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This Círculo de Lectores edition is illustrated by Ballestar and features a translation by Emilio M. Martínez Amador.
Recommended for readers of adventure classics who want to discover the character's original story, cruder and more adult than its film adaptations.
Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American writer, recognized for his prolific output in the adventure, science fiction, and fantasy genres. Best known for creating the characters Tarzan and John Carter, he also wrote the Pellucidar series, the Amtor series, and the Caspak trilogy.
