«Sopravvivere coi lupi» is the historical novel by Misha Defonseca, published by Ponte Alle Grazie in paperback (266 pages, in Italian).
The narrative follows a girl who, separated from her family, travels through Nazi-occupied Europe from Belgium to Ukraine. In her flight, the protagonist survives alone and finds among the wolves the warmth and affection that human beings deny her.
The original «Survivre avec les loups» appeared in 1997. In 2008 the author admitted that the story was invented and that she was not Jewish; her real name was Monique De Wael.
For readers of historical fiction and Holocaust testimonies, and for those interested in cases of debunked autobiographies.
