«Solo en el mundo» is the coming-of-age novel by Hisham Matar, published by Salamandra in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
«Solo en el mundo» opens in Tripoli in the early years of Gaddafi and follows Solimán, a nine-year-old boy whose world is shaken when his father leaves and a chance encounter breaks his trust in adults. He then discovers words like betrayal and forgiveness; the novel distils nostalgia for childhood and homeland.
«Solo en el mundo» is Hisham Matar's first novel and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. It is part of the Salamandra Narrativa collection.
For readers of coming-of-age novels and literary fiction. Spanish edition, recommended for ages 16 and up.
