«Solo en el mundo» is the contemporary novel by Hisham Matar, published by Quinteto in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
In the Tripoli of Gaddafi's early years, Solimán, a nine-year-old boy, discovers the adult world when his father leaves on a trip. A chance encounter shatters his trust in his parents, and his mother's confession about her own childhood brings him closer to words like betrayal, violence or forgiveness.
Work originally published as 'In the Country of Men' (2006), translated by Ana María De La Fuente Rodríguez; shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and part of the Quinteto Bolsillo collection.
