«Senseis Portfölj» is a contemporary novel by Hiromi Kawakami, published by Tranan in 2022 in paperback (231 pages, in Swedish).
Tsukiko, a 38-year-old office worker living alone, recognises her former high-school teacher, thirty years her senior, in a sake bar, and calls him Sensei because she cannot remember his name. From then on they share meals and conversations across Tokyo; as the seasons pass, this unexpected bond becomes something hard to name and decisive for them both.
Original work «Sensei no kaban» (2001), winner of the Tanizaki Prize; also nominated for the Man Asian Literary Prize and the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.
For readers of contemporary Japanese fiction and intimate stories about solitude and affection.
