«Rodolphe et les secrets de Mayerling» is the historical biography by Jean des Cars, published by Perrin in paperback (583 pages, in French).
The book reconstructs the famous Mayerling affair: the discovery, in January 1889, of Archduke Rudolf of Habsburg, son of Sissi and Franz Joseph, and of Mary Vetsera. Against the official suicide version, the author weighs contradictions, testimonies and the revelations of Empress Zita to offer an alternative hypothesis.
The work, published in 2004, is the biography of Rudolf of Habsburg (1858-1889) and Marie Vetsera (1871-1889); it includes bibliographic references and an index.
For those interested in 19th-century European history, the Habsburg dynasty and the Mayerling mystery.
