«Riesenbagger in Aktion» is Eric C. Orlemann's illustrated book on mining technology, published by Heel Verlag in hardback (160 pages, in German).
A visual tribute to the giant bucket-wheel excavators that dominated open-cast mines over the last hundred years. Historical and current photographs document how one of these colossal machines is conceived, manufactured, assembled and operated, whose fascination persists even though greater quantities are now extracted with smaller equipment.
The subtitle is «Giganten im Tagebau»; the 2004 edition is in large format (31 cm) and with numerous illustrations.
For enthusiasts of heavy machinery, industrial engineering and large-scale mining operations.
