«¿Qué iglesia quería Jesús?» is the theological essay by Herbert Haag, published by Herder Editorial in paperback (156 pages, in Spanish).
The essay analyses the crisis of the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church: the shortage of priests, communities without the Eucharist, celibacy and the ordination of women. Haag argues that the crisis will persist as long as the Church does not provide itself with a new constitution, and advocates recognising the role of the charismatic alongside the ordained ministry, with pastoral leadership that respects the individuality of the faithful.
Translation by J. M. López de Castro; the original German title is «Worauf es ankommt».
Aimed at readers interested in the theological debate on the Catholic Church, its organisation and the role of the priesthood.
