«Prenons la place des morts» is the crime novel by Arne Dahl, published by Actes Sud Editions in paperback (448 pages, in French).
A cosmetic surgeon is found dead in Belgium, a Czech parliamentarian is murdered off the coast of Tuscany, and an Albanian arms trafficker dies in Stockholm. Seemingly unconnected, the three cases lead Europol's Opcop group to an island where inhumane scientific experiments took place. The trail goes back to 1933, in Siberia, and to a killer who is still active.
Second instalment in the Opcop series. Original title: Hela havet stormar (2012). Translated from Swedish by Rémi Cassaigne.
A read for fans of European crime fiction and investigative thrillers with a historical backdrop.
