«Pobre Patria Mía» is the historical novel by Pedro Ángel Palou, published by Editorial Planeta Mexicana in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
Porfirio Díaz, old and exiled in Europe, observes Mexico from a distance while reviewing his life: the military campaigns, the Centenary celebrations, his iron fist, and the modernity he drove with railways and oil. His memories take him back to his childhood in Oaxaca and to figures such as Juárez, Lerdo de Tejada, and Madero.
Published in 2010, it is part of the Autores Españoles e Iberoamericanos collection from Editorial Planeta Mexicana.
For readers of historical fiction interested in the Porfiriato and the figure of Porfirio Díaz.
