«Planimetria d'una família feliç» is a contemporary novel by Lia Piano, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (200 pages, in Catalan).
A six-year-old girl narrates her family's move to a villa on a hill in Genoa. Her father draws the world and builds a sailboat in the basement; her mother lives among books and high heels; the nanny Maria, who cannot read, has an enormous heart. With her brothers Marco and Gioele, the girl observes the adult world with humour and wonder.
The Catalan translation is by Pau Vidal. Volume 579 of the Empúries Narrativa collection. The Italian original, «Planimetria di una famiglia felice», was published in 2019.
For readers of family novels seeking a childhood told with humour and tenderness, in the vein of Gerald Durrell.
