«On the Black Hill» is Bruce Chatwin's novel, published by Random House UK in paperback (272 pages, in English).
The novel narrates the lives of identical twins Benjamin and Lewis, who grow up and remain on the family farm in the Welsh countryside, devoted to the land and to an existence almost untouched by the twentieth century. Their story, marked by extreme intimacy and their dealings with the small local community, serves Chatwin to explore human bonds and the mysteries of everyday life.
For readers of literary fiction interested in Welsh rural life and stories about deep family ties.

Charles Bruce Chatwin was an English travel writer, novelist and journalist. His first book, In Patagonia (1977), established Chatwin as a travel writer, although he considered himself instead a storyteller, interested in bringing to light unusual tales. He won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his novel On the Black Hill (1982), while his novel Utz (1988) was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. In 2008 The Times ranked Chatwin as number 46 on their list of "50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945".
