«Mr Phillips» is the contemporary novel by John Lanchester, published by Faber & Faber in paperback (256 pages, in English).
Mr. Phillips, a middle-aged accountant, has an unusual July Monday: instead of going to the office, he chats with a pornographer, follows a minor TV celebrity, has lunch with an aspiring music mogul, and gets caught up in a bank robbery. Why isn't he at work?
Published on 8 January 2001, the work was nominated for the RSL Encore Award that year; in some records the title appears as 'Mr. Phillips'.
Ideal for readers of British literary fiction and for those who appreciate ironic humour and the portrayal of everyday urban life.
