«Marie-Antoinette: la naissance d'une reine» is a selection of letters by Marie Antoinette presented by Évelyne Lever, in paperback edition (283 pages).
This selection of letters spans from 1770 to 1780, from Marie Antoinette's marriage to the death of her mother, Maria Theresa. They reveal the early years of a queen watched by the court and used by her mother on the European diplomatic chessboard, ill-prepared for her role as wife and sovereign. Évelyne Lever frames and presents the texts.
Edition established and presented by Évelyne Lever; belongs to the Points collection (P1526) and gathers letters from the volume «Marie-Antoinette, correspondances 1770-1793» (Tallandier, 2005). In French.
Will appeal to readers of French history, of the eighteenth-century monarchy, and of correspondence as a historical source.
