«Malibu» is the novel by Leon de Winter, published by Diogenes Verlag AG in paperback (416 pages, in German).
After the death of his daughter in an accident, Joop Koopman, a down-and-out screenwriter in Hollywood, is dragged by an old colleague into a mission for Mossad. The investigation takes him from loss and grief to a political espionage plot that turns into a thriller with metaphysical overtones, echoing reincarnation and Buddhism.
The work is the German translation of «God's Gym», by Hanni Ehlers, and is part of the Diogenes-Taschenbuch series, volume 23434.
Recommended for readers of contemporary European fiction seeking a story of grief intertwined with espionage and metaphysical reflection.
Leon de Winter is a Dutch novelist and columnist.
