«L'hiver du mécontentement» is the novel by Thomas B. Reverdy, published by J'ai Lu in paperback, in French.
Candice, a young postwoman, delivers the mail by bicycle through a London paralysed by the strikes of the winter of 1978-1979, while rehearsing the role of Richard III in an all-female theatre company. There she crosses paths with Margaret Thatcher and with Jones, a recently dismissed musician; the novel portrays the end of an era and the beginning of a harsher world.
Winner of the Prix Interallié 2018, as stated on the cover.
For readers of historical and social fiction set in England in the late 1970s.
