«L'esperit de Catalunya» is the historical essay by Josep Trueta i Raspall, published by Selecta in paperback (246 pages, in Catalan).
Josep Trueta offers a reading of the history and culture of Catalonia not as a classic chronicle, but as the «clinical history» written by an expert in human medicine. Written during his exile in the United Kingdom, the essay seeks to explain the Catalan question to the Anglo-Saxon society with rigour and passion for the land.
The work belongs to the Biblioteca Selecta collection (vol. 495), Assaigs series (no. 51). It was originally published in English as The Spirit of Catalonia, with a Catalan translation by Vicenç Riera i Llorca.
Intended for readers interested in the history of Catalonia and in the historical essay with a personal and testimonial perspective.
