«Les passages» is the novel by Claude Gutman, published in 1997 by Seuil in paperback (264 pages, in French).
Joseph Katz, aged twenty-two, returns from Palestine in 1946 with a life marked by war: after the July 1942 roundup in Paris, he set out on a solitary path along which he saved Daniel and dozens of children. Joseph detests cowards, but also moralists, the heroes who parade, and those who divide the world into good and bad.
The cover subtitle is «Roman»; the novel belongs to Seuil's Cadre rouge collection.
For readers of French fiction interested in stories about war, memory and childhood.
