«Les Orpailleurs» is the crime novel by Thierry Jonquet, published by Gallimard in paperback (399 pages, in French).
The appearance of a female corpse with her right hand severed triggers an investigation: in the following days, two other victims appear with the same ritual. The killer not only murders to relive his memories, but embarks on a journey into the past along a path already trodden by men, the elderly, children, and women.
The work belongs to the Folio Policier collection; the paperback edition was published in 1998.
For readers of noir fiction and psychological thrillers, with a dark atmosphere and ritual crimes.
