François Fénelon, theologian, bishop, and tutor to princes, was also a transgressor of the official doctrine of his time. At the end of the 17th century, when the forced submission of women kept them away from education, the ideas of this bishop broke through pedagogical obscurantism, opening up a pragmatic panorama that, without intending to change the social role of women, sought for it to be carried out with the maximum possible instruction. Based on the original texts, translated by Carles Miró, the pedagogue Enric Prats highlights in this work the fundamental role of Fénelon in the transition towards modern pedagogy.
