«Le voyage dans l'Est» is the novel by Christine Angot, published by J'ai lu in paperback (224 pages, in French).
Christine Angot reconstructs the relationship between a daughter and her father and the incest she suffered from childhood, adolescence and adulthood. She alternates intimate experience with courtroom dialogues: the complaint clashes with the difficulty of proving the facts, the statute of limitations and the dismissal. Angot explores memory, silence and the aftermath of abuse.
The work was awarded the Prix Médicis in 2021; this paperback edition was published in August 2022.
