«Le Combat d'hiver» is the young adult fantasy novel by Jean-Claude Mourlevat, published by Gallimard Jeunesse in paperback (432 pages, in French).
Four teenagers raised in an orphanage that seems like a prison discover that their parents were annihilated by a totalitarian regime. With a letter as the trigger, they decide to escape to continue the resistance cut short fifteen years earlier. Although the cause seems impossible, their journey vindicates freedom and opposes culture to barbarism.
The edition dates from 2010 and belongs to the Pôle fiction collection. The novel was recognised with the France Télévisions, Sorcières and Incorruptibles awards.
The work is intended for a young audience aged 12 and over, with an adventure dystopia close to science fiction and fantasy.
