«L'appel des engoulevents» is the historical novel by Claude Michelet, published in 1991 by France-Loisirs in hardback, in French.
The novel centres on the narrator's family home in Dun-le-Palestel, in the Creuse, where the walls seem to keep secrets and memories of several generations. The narrative reconstructs silenced truths, the lives of those who inhabited the house, and the story of a father who chose to remain silent.
This novel is the third instalment of the Saga des Vialhe, by Claude Michelet.
It is a read for those looking for a historical and family novel centred on memory and rural France.
Claude Michelet was an award-winning French author and film writer.
