«L'affare Tutankhamon» is the historical novel by Christian Jacq, published by Bompiani in paperback (434 pages, in Italian).
The novel recreates the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb through the figure of Lord Carnarvon and his circle, extending the narrative to half a century of intrigues, ambitions and passions linked to the find. Christian Jacq weaves history and adventure to show how fascination with ancient Egypt transformed those involved in the excavation.
Originally published in French in 1992 as «L'affaire Toutankhamon», translated into Italian by Francesco Saba Sardi and awarded the Maison de la Presse prize.
For readers of historical fiction and enthusiasts of ancient Egypt and great archaeological adventures.
Christian Jacq is a French author and Egyptologist. He has written several novels about ancient Egypt, notably a five book series about pharaoh Ramses II, a character whom Jacq admires greatly.
