Rodolphe Martin is a struggling screenwriter, poorly paid and dissatisfied with his Parisian life. With the money from a script that will never be filmed, he decides to leave everything behind and seek refuge in the spa town of Aix-les-Bains. There, he attempts to embrace a life of doing nothing, but soon finds himself caught in a series of unexpected and dangerous adventures as his new life begins to mirror the very script he was trying to escape.
