«La soledad del corredor de fondo» is a classic of Alan Sillitoe's fiction, published by MDS Books/Mediasat in hardback (190 pages, in Spanish).
Colin Smith, a working-class youth from Nottingham, is sent to a reformatory after robbing a bakery. There he discovers his ability to run and finds in effort a form of freedom alien to the institution's expectations. His attitude toward that pressure turns the story into an emblem of nonconformism.
Winner of the Hawthornden Prize in 1960. This 2002 edition includes a prologue by Javier García Sánchez, a translation by Baldomero Porta, and is volume 12 of the Biblioteca El Mundo collection.
A work for readers of twentieth-century British fiction and of stories about rebellion, working class, and individual freedom.

Alan Sillitoe FRSL was an English writer and one of the so-called "angry young men" of the 1950s. He disliked the label, as did most of the other writers to whom it was applied. He is best known for his debut novel Saturday Night and Sunday Morning and his early short story "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner", both of which were adapted into films.
