This book analyzes in detail the activity of the Inquisitorial Tribunal of Granada over nearly three centuries, from a social history perspective. It examines its methods, victims, and the different types of punishments imposed. It highlights that the accusation of Judaizing was one of the most serious, subjecting suspects to rigorous torture and the most severe punishments. The life of the Judeo-Conversos and the role of the Converso woman are analyzed, as well as the chronology of the persecutions, including the great general autos between 1593-99 and the waves of autos de fe between 1650-1700 and 1720-30. Unlike other provinces, in Granada, those suspected of Judaizing were not Portuguese converts, but members of the city's high bureaucracy and merchant class.
