Synopsis of La promesa
La promesa es una novela del autor Damon Galgut, traducida al catalán por Àfrica Rubiés Mirabet. La historia narra la vida de la familia Swart, una familia sudafricana blanca propietaria de una granja cerca de Pretoria. A lo largo de los años, la familia se reúne en diferentes velatorios, mientras que los jóvenes Anton y Amor detestan lo que representa su familia, especialmente la promesa incumplida a Salomé, la mujer negra que trabajó para ellos toda su vida. A pesar de los años de servicio, la promesa de una casa y una tierra propia para Salomé nunca se cumple, reflejando la crisis de un país donde la segregación legalizada ha terminado, pero la división trágica entre dos grupos de personas persiste.
